Assembly

To minimize chances of damage to the rack and to make the process safer for you, we strongly recommend two people to assemble the rack.

  1. Remove the stretch wrap from the rack to release it from the shipping box, taking care around the electrical components. Inspect all the pieces and retrieve the hardware from its packaging.

  2. Put the power arm on a vehicle hitch or rack stand.

  3. Take the threaded hitch pin and screw it thru the receiver of your vehicle and hitch bar that was inserted in the receiver at step 2.

  4. Take the top bar and hold it a half inch above the top plates. Plug the signal light female connection, in the top bar, to the male connection in the power arm.

  5. Lower the top bar between the top plates until the predrilled holes align. Take care maneuvering the power connection into the power arm as you lower the bar. Make sure there are no wires in the way before you insert the two top bar ½ inch bolts. Tighten with a 19 mm or ¾ inch socket drive.

  6. Take the lower bar, place the flat side against the power arm, and align it with the holes in the middle of the power arm. Please note that the lower bar is offset from the top bar and will be longer on the right side for most models. Make sure there are no wires in the way and insert the ½ inches bolts. Tighten with a 19 mm or ¾ inch socket drive.

  7. Connect the power to your trailer connection. Check that all the lights are functioning and the rack moves when the remote is used.

  8. Optional: Lock the rack to your vehicle. A chain or other form of security cable can be run through the hole in the side pivot plate next to the hitch bar.

How much torque on bolts to assemble:

  • Stainless steel hardware lower bar torque to 43 FT-LBS.

  • Grade 8 Hardware lower bar torque to 80 FT-LBS.

  • Stainless Hardware license plate torque to 20 FT-LBS.

  • Grade 8 5/8 hitch pin torque to 150 FT-LBS.

Operation Instructions

Loading bikes from the ground:

  1. Lower down your eRACK until the baskets are 1 inch from the ground.

  2. The longest bike most of the time fits better on the right.

  3. Roll your front wheel in the basket in a small angle.

  4.  Secure your front wheel to the top bar with the toggle system. Take the front toggle, pass it between the spokes of the bike’s wheel, through the middle of the basket straight rods and set the toggle into the smaller channel on the back bracket. Repeat with the back toggle and place it in the front bracket. The stretch rope for the toggles should form an X between the straight rods of the basket.

  5. Push and hold the in button on your remote to lift your bicycle up. Make sure you hold the rear wheel when it is lifted off the ground so the rear tire touches the lower bar smootlhy.

  6. When loading multiple bikes, watch for handles touching and break/speed wires tangling.

  7. Secure your rear tire with the toggle system.

  8. Lift the rack until it stops by itself in the transport position.

  9. Put the red and black safety pin through the holes in front of the power arm on the base plate to prevent accidents when moving.

  10. Optional: Secure bikes to rack. Each bike has a pre-drilled hole in the lower bar that a bike lock can be attached to.

Unloading bikes to the ground

  1. Detach the toggle system from your rear tire.

  2. Push the button down on your remote to lower down the power arm and bike(s).

  3. Just before the back wheel touches the ground, pull it gently with the seat to bring the bike(s) towards you until it rolls on the ground away from the vehicle. If multiple bikes are being unloaded, ensure all bikes are in this position before continuing. If unloading multiples bikes in different sizes, you will need to repeat this step as each size reaches the ground. When unloading multiple bikes, watch for handles touching and break/speed wires tangling.

  4. When safe let your bikes roll on the ground.

  5. Detach the toggle tying system holding the front wheel and roll your bike out of the basket.

Loading Rack Midway

  1. Lower your rack midway to the ground so you can reach the basket with your front wheel when the back wheel is on the ground.

  2. Lift your bicycle on the back wheel when holding to the handle bar and pressing the rear break.

  3. Put the front wheel in the basket and secure your wheel using the toggle system.

  4. Raise your rack and secure the back wheel using the toggle system.

  5. Put the red and black safety pin through the holes in front of the power arm on the base plate to prevent accidents when moving.

  6. Optional: Secure bikes to rack. Each bike has a pre-drilled hole in the lower bar that a bike lock can be attached to.

Unloading Rack Midway

  1. Detach the toggle system from the back wheel.

  2. Remove the red and black safety pin to allow the power arm to pivot.

  3. Lower the loaded rack midway.

  4. Detach the toggle system for the front wheel.

  5. Lift the front wheel out of the basket and roll on your bike back on its back tire.

  6. Lower the front wheel to the ground.

Emergency Stop System and Manual Switch

In case of an emergency, press the red button and all power to the rack will cease. To re-engage the rack, simply use the key provided. This feature can also be used to prevent the rack from being operated while you are away from your vehicle.

The manual switch is located just below the Emergency Stop System. Take extra precaution when using the switch as you will be in close proximity to the rack while it is in motion.

Maintenance Service

  • Check for any loose bolts and/or nuts.

  • From time to time replace old bungees or retractable ratchet with tears.

  • If the pivot is squeaking, put dry chain lub at the pivot between the black plastic shims and the lifting arm.

Safety Check

  • The black and red or black and blue safety pin is required to be in place preventing the power arm from moving whenever the vehicle is in motion.

  • Respect the road speed limit. Be careful under certain weather condition.

  • No Children should operate the rack without direct adult supervision.

  • Before using your eRACK on the road, be sure to do a pre-trip inspection each time. Check for any loose bolts and/or nuts and tighten accordingly. Inspect the electrical system for any damage. Check the toggle system. Test lights to confirm they are functioning properly.
